From an extract in Chris Rowley's book "we had everything..." Harry Lucas said "The Leigh Royal British Legion was officially formed in 1946 in the bar of the Brickmakers Arms." The Branch and Club now resides in what was once a room used for total immersion baptisms behind the large village hall. The buildings were built round about 1870 by Samuel Morley to serve as a church. The Brickmakers Arms is now a private house on the corner of Lower Green Road.
